DESCRIPTION:
Supporting the World Bank Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) in developing the DRM Sustainable Financing approach for the World Bank Operational Guideline including lessons learned. Introduced blended financing solutions, the UN Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) and various ex ante and ex-post financing instruments for country level uptake.
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
Review of global DRM financing practice, development of lessons learned and outline for a sustainable approach to ex ante and ex post DRM financing for the World Bank Operational Experiences and Lessons from Disaster Recovery report for 2021.

PROJECT DETAILS:
Disasters hurt the poor and vulnerable the most. From 1998 through 2018, 91% of storm-related fatalities were in low- and middle-income countries, even though these countries experienced just 32% of storms.
