Azerbaijan UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF)

Over the last five years, Azerbaijan has demonstrated its firm commitment towards achieving the 2030 Agenda. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued the Decree in 2016, to establish the National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development - a key partner for the United Nations to channel its support to the Government of Azerbaijan since then. The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) is aligned with Government strategic development priorities over the period of 2021- 2025 and is directly linked to the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda.
Draft the UNSDCF to set the strategic vision and
direction for cooperation between the
Government of Azerbaijan and the United
Nations Country Team (UNCT) for the period
of 2021-2025. Lead consultative
engagement between the Government, the UNCT and its national and international partners. In
the context of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs), considering how
to leverage the comparative advantages of
the United Nations System to best support
national priorities and align UN activities with
the country’s strategic outlook. Lead national dialogue sessions with the Government supporting the UN Resident Coordinator to Azerbaijan, Ghulam M. Isaczai.
Led the drafting of the UN United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Azerbaijan.
Disasters hurt the poor and vulnerable the most. From 1998 through 2018, 91% of storm-related fatalities were in low- and middle-income countries, even though these countries experienced just 32% of storms.
