DESCRIPTION:

Geopolicity was contracted by UNICEF Iraq to lead the reform of the primary and secondary education sectors, developing a sector reform road map based on a costed service delivery model, functional review of the entire ministry and development of a new service delivery model.  Geopolicity initiated and proposed the School Based Management (SBM) system which is currently being implemented by Government.

 

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:

Technical assistance to Iraq’s Ministry of Education and UNICEF sector team, including the completion of a service delivery model description, sector costing of primary and secondary education and functional review.  The support was linked to costed Millennium Development Goals,  the development of a costed model for the sector, and SBM arrangements and road map.  Hosting of three national workshops, validation of findings and adoption of investment program.

 

OUTCOME:

National education sector reform program adopted, and SBM piloted across five provinces.
